Control device management

To get a control device, contact us or find a control-device developer.

If you want to develop a control device, start with the integration planning guide. To add it to Realer or open an existing device and find its credentials, follow the API-key guide. Then use API Docs getting started to implement the firmware.

Realer supports general-purpose control devices that integrate through the public API rather than a product-specific compatibility program.

Sign in with the Realer account that holds the control device's subscription. If you use or manage the resource, or own the device, but another account holds the subscription, ask that account's holder to manage it.

How to manage the subscription

To create a control relationship between a control device and a resource:

  1. Make sure you can edit and administer the resource in Realer and own the control device you want to connect. Use the existing resource, or create one if needed.
  2. Go to the resource page on Realer.
  3. From the resource page, click on under the resource name.
  4. From within the Control card in the edit resource page, click on Edit.
  5. From within the modal window that appears, search for the control device that you want to relate to the resource and click relate.
  6. Choose the privacy setting for the resource control relationship.
  7. Click Create control relationship.

Note: There are limitations on the number of control devices per resource you can relate.

If you're the admin of the control device, you can edit it.

To edit a control device:

  1. Go to the control device page on Realer.
  2. From your control device page, click on under the control device name.
  3. Edit the control device.
  4. When you are finished, click Update control device.
